Epilobium amurense Hausskn. ssp. amurense

    Erect perennial herb, with short leafy soboles, elongated rosettes or rarely fleshy stolons; stems (10-) 20-50 (-80) cm, simple or sparingly branched, strigillose on inflorescence with admixture of glandular hairs, the lower part subglabrous with two raised densely strigillose lines through internodes. Leaves 2-7 cm long, 0.5-2.5 cm wide, ovate to oblong or lanceolate or obovate below, usually sharply serrulate, subsessile or the lower pairs on petioles 1-4 mm long. Flowers suberect; floral tube 0.6-0.9 mm long; sepals 3.5-5 mm, strigillose, with tufts of hairs at junctures of the sepal bases; petals 5-8 (-10) mm long, white to rose or purple; stigma subcapitate. Capsules 15-70 mm long, sparsely pubescent to glabrescent, on pedicels 3-12 mm long. Seeds 0.8-1 mm long, surface coarsely papillose; coma dull white, detaching easily. 2n=36. Flowers Jul (rarely from May) - Aug; fruit Aug (rarely from Jun) - Oct (rarely Dec).

    Distribution: E and N Asia from Kamchatka to SW China, and to Kashmir and Hunza. Grows in wet places by streams and springs, on moist grassy slopes, and in disturbed places in the mountains; 1,300-2,500 m.
