  • Dendrobium tenuicaule Hayata

    Stems tufted, wiry, slender, often curved or slightly pendulous, 20-50 cm long, 1.5 mm in diam.; internodes 2-2.5 cm long. Leaves linear, 4-10 cm long, 3-5 mm wide, apex acute, base narrowed, articulated with sheath; sheaths as long as internodes. Inflorescence lateral, arising from nodes of leafy or defoliated stem, with 1-3, usually 2 flowers; peduncle ca. 1 cm long; bract triangular, 2 mm long; pedicel and ovary 1 cm long. Flowers white, perianth not opening widely; sepals subequal, dorsal one oblong, 10-12 mm long, 4 mm wide, apex obtuse, base narrowed; lateral sepals 13 mm long, 5 mm wide, apex acute, base oblique, adnate to foot of column and forming mentum 4 mm long, mentum greenish at apex; petals rhomboid-lanceolate, 11 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, apex acute, base cuneate; lip elongate rhomboid, obscurely 3-lobed or unlobed, 13-15 mm long, 7-8 mm wide, lacerate-ciliate in upper part, base attenuate, entire, disc hirsute, with long longitudinal raised ridges; column 2 mm long, foot 4-5 mm long; anther white, 1.3 mm long; pollinia yellow, clavate. Capsules fusiform, 1.5-2 cm long.

    Endemic, forests at low elevations in the central and southern mountainous regions, often on rocks.
