Eria fragrans Rchb. f.
Epiphytic or terrestrial herbs. Rhizomes distinct. Pseudobulbs at 4-5 cm intervals, ovoid, ca. 4 cm long, 2 cm wide, with 1 or 2 foliage leaves and few scale leaves. Leaves fleshy, spatulate, ca. 40 cm long, 5-6 cm wide, apex acute, base sheathing, jointed to pseudobulb. Inflorescence from middle of pseudobulb, erect, green, to 40 cm long, flowering throughout whole length; bracts ovate, 1.5 cm long, 8 mm wide, apex acute. Flowers fragrant, pale yellow, ca. 3.5 cm across; dorsal sepal narrowly linear-lanceolate, 2.5 cm long, 4 mm wide, apex acuminate, with short dark brown hairs outside; lateral sepals similar to dorsal one, base oblique; petals similar to dorsal sepal but shorter; lip hinged to foot of column, 1.4 cm long, 3-lobed, lateral lobes erect, 6 mm long, acute, terminal lobe oblong, 8 mm long, disk with 3 longitudinal keels.

China, Sikkim, India, Myanmar, Thailand and the Philippines, southward through Malaysia and Indonesia to Papua New Guinea. Taiwan, collected only once at Chushan, Nantou, forest at ca. 300 m.
