Distribution: Naturalized in Madagascar
Note: Several vars and/or subsp have been recognised in Africa, the merit of these, and which may apply to the Malagasy material needs to be assessed. Perrier de la Bâthie (1953) believed the species to have originally been introduced from Africa as a medicinal plant.
