Note: This name was not validly published. It was in used for a species supposed by Perrier de la Bâthie (1938) to by shared between Madagascar and southern Africa. The correct name for the African plant is A. lignosus Burm.f., but this is not conspecific with the Malagasy plant which is A. aymoninii [in press].
