Note: Regarded by Cavaco (1954) as introduced, in Madagascar it occurs in little disturbed habitats, and we concur with Stannard in Fl. Zamb. 9(1) (1988), that it is possibly native in the old world. It has been confused with Rivinia humilis, including by Cavaco (1954), but we have seen no material on Rivinia from Madagascar, although it would not be surprising if R. humilis did occur.
