Hilleria latifolia (Lam.) H. Walter
    Pflanzenr. IV. 83 (Heft 39): 81-82 (1909).

Distribution: Madagascar, Africa, The New World

Bioclimate: Humid, Subhumid

Vegetation Formation: Forest, Inselberg/Rock Face, Anthropic

Elevation (m): 500-999, 1000-1499

Province: Antsiranana, Fianarantsoa

Protected Areas : Andohahela, Montagne d’Ambre

Important sites outside protected areas: Analavelona

Note: Regarded by Cavaco (1954) as introduced, in Madagascar it occurs in little disturbed habitats, and we concur with Stannard in Fl. Zamb. 9(1) (1988), that it is possibly native in the old world. It has been confused with Rivinia humilis, including by Cavaco (1954), but we have seen no material on Rivinia from Madagascar, although it would not be surprising if R. humilis did occur.

Type(s) of syns and other voucher(s): PHILLIPSON 5723 (MO)
