Passiflora subpeltata Ortega
Nov. Pl. Descr. Dec. 6: 78 (1798).
Distribution: Naturalized in Madagascar
Bioclimate: Humid
Vegetation Formation: Forest, Anthropic
Elevation (m): 1000-1499
Province: Toamasina
Note: Known from a few cultivated specimens (Antananarivo), and a collection from near Moramanga, it is probably more widely naturalized that records suggest. Much confused in the literature with P. stipularis, and we are not convinced that they are not the same species, in which case the latter name has priority, and the sp is known by this name in the Mascarenes, however we follow current usage in Africa until further work is available.
