Note: Widely scattered but rarely collected. The Malagasy specimens are provisially maintained within this variable African sp., from which they differ slightly. Benoist was prompted to annotate specimens "var. madagascariensis", but this name does not appear to have been published. The Malagasy material also approaches the African R. seticalyx, but it may be better regarded as a separate species, a decision on this awaits more clarity on the taxonomy of the African species.
