Note: Occurs in Madagascar (including Juan de Nova Island) mainly in the south-west, but with scattered records in the west, north and Horombe Plateau, and also in the Seychelles (Albadra Island). The species is closely related to others in the genus, and the African S. australis has been regarded as a mere variety of the Malagasy species.
