Rarity: Known only from 2-5 localities
Note: Sleumer (1970) cited a collection from Ambanja (Perrier 2785), but it has much smaller flowers, different venation and lacks the distinctive indument of this sp. We exclude it, and place it provisionally in P. obscura. Two recent collections (Randrianasolo et al 503, Malcomber 1883) extend the former known range north, the latter into Ankarana PA.
