Note: Collections from the northern region of P. madagascariensis’ distribution vary from the typical form. Three groups with smaller flowers were identified, which have overlapping distributions. One collection from Antalaha was distinguished from the others by having a lighter color indumentum. Two groups with sparser hairs also from the Masoala Peninsula can be distinguished from one another by the length and thickness of the peduncles and pedicels. Very few collections of each were available.
