Pulsatilla ambigua (Turcz. ex Hayek) Juz.
Plant 20-30 cm. Taproot and verical rhizome stout. Leaves pinnately compound, 20-30 cm x 5-10 cm. Flowers blue-violet (rarely pink), nodding and flat spread at the beginning of flowering, erect and bell-like later. V - early spring to autumn. Fl - mid spring (in St. Petersburg May). Fr - June-July. P - by seed. Tolerates partial shade. Z 4. New.
Siberia (southwestern regions), Mongolia and China. Sandy places, rocky mountain slopes.
