Tree of a medium size (up to 15 m) with large five-lobed leaves 9-15 cm long and 11-16 cm wide. Dark green in summer they turn carmine in autumn. A handsome foliage tree. Requires air humidity, not cold resistant. Z 6.

Caucasus, in meadows in forest and subalpine zone at 1,600-2,500 m, usually on lime soil.
