Corolla dark blue-purple, tube suberect or slightly curved. Filaments pubescent basally.

Parasitic on species of Cousinia Cassini.
A critical study of the type of Cistanche feddeana reveals that it belongs to the Orobanche cernua complex. It is placed in var. hansii on account of its flower color and pubescent
filaments.
