Trees. Branchlets glabrous; buds brown pubescent. Petiole 1--1.5 cm; leaf blade ovate-elliptic to obovate-elliptic, 6--21 X 2--8 cm, leathery, glabrous, margin serrulate, apex acuminate to acute; leaf blade lateral veins 5--9 pairs, not strictly parallel, anastomosing at some distance from margin. Spikes 3--14 cm, usually branched from base, axis usually pubescent but glabrescent in fruit; bracts persistent, broadly ovate, ca. 2 mm, margin glandular punctate, pubescent; bractlets persistent, ca. 1 mm, pubescent, margin glandular punctate. Ovary 0.5--1 mm, glabrous. Calyx glabrous; lobes semi-orbicular 1--2 mm, shorter than tube. Corolla ca. 4 mm. Stamens ca. 30. Disc annular, glabrous. Drupes globose, 4--6 mm in diam., apex with persistent erect calyx lobes. Fl. Aug-Dec, fr. Mar-Jun.
