Trees 4-10(-15) m. Petiole stoutish, 1-2 cm; leaf blade broadly ovate, elliptic-ovate to oblong-lanceolate. Calyx 1.5-2 mm. Corolla 4-5 mm. Capsule blunt at apex. Fl. Jun-Jul, fr. Aug-Oct. 2n = 46*.
Mixed forests on slopes, grasslands, near gullies; 100-1200 m. Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Nei Mongol [Korea, E Russia]
The bark, trunks, and branches are used as antiphlogistic drug and diuretic. The flowers are used in the preparation of various perfumes.
