Shrubs or small trees, 2-6 m tall. Older branches dark brown; young branches slender, ascending; current year branchlets grayish yellow, glabrous. Petiole 2-4 mm, glabrous; leaf blade narrowly oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 4-6.5 × 1-1.8 cm, thinly leathery, abaxially pale green, adaxially dark green, both surfaces glabrous, midvein abaxially raised and adaxially impressed, secondary veins 6-8 on each side of midvein and visi-
ble or slightly raised on both surfaces, base cuneate, margin basal 1/2 entire and apical 1/2 shallowly and bluntly serrulate, apex long acuminate to caudate. Flowers solitary. Pedicel 0.8-1.2 cm, slender, glabrous, thickened toward apex; bracteoles 3 or 4, broadly triangular to ovate, 0.5-1.5 mm, margin ciliolate, apex obtuse. Calyx narrowly campanulate, 4-5 mm; lobes 5, semiorbicular to bluntly triangular, 1.5-2 mm, outside glabrous, inside puberulent, margin ciliolate. Corolla white, 2-2.5 cm, basally connate into a 0.8-1.4 cm a tube; lobes 5-7, oblong-oblanceolate, 10-13 × 6-8 mm, apex obtuse to rounded. Stamens 1.6-1.8 cm; outer filament whorl basally connate into a 1.3-1.5 cm tube; inner filaments sparsely pubescent. Gynoecium 1.8-1.9 cm, glabrous. Ovary ovoid, 3-loculed; style 1.7-1.8 cm, apically 3-parted for ca. 1 mm. Capsule ellipsoid to subglobose, 1.5-2 cm in diam., 1-loculed with 1 seed; pericarp thinly leathery, splitting into 3 valves. Seed chestnut brown, subglobose, 1.5-1.8 in diam. Fl. Oct-Dec, fr. Aug.
