炉霍杜鹃 lu huo du juan

Small, erect shrubs, ca. 1 m tall; branchlets short, tortuous, with ferruginous, deciduous scales. Petiole 1–3 mm, densely scaly; leaf blade aromatic, oblong or oblong-elliptic, 0.8–1.2 × 0.35–0.4 cm; base broadly cuneate to rounded; apex rounded, mucronate; abaxial surface scales overlapping, arranged in 2–3 tiers, small, pale yellow-brown; adaxial surface pale green, sparsely scaly. Inflorescence 3–5-flowered. Pedicel 1–2 cm, scaly; calyx lobes 2–2.5 mm, oblong-lanceolate, scales absent, margin ciliate; corolla salver-shaped, white, 0.9–1.1 cm, tube 6–7 mm, outer surface sparsely puberulous, inner surface densely villous; lobes rounded, 0.3–0.35 cm; stamens 5, included in corolla tube, filaments glabrous; ovary ovoid, ca. 2.6 mm, densely scaly; style ca. 0.8 mm. Fl. Jun–Jul.

Larix potaninii forests; ca. 4000 m. NW Sichuan.
