Shrubs, to 1 m tall. Stems grayish brown or gray; young branches striate, glabrous. Stipules narrowly lanceolate, 3.5-4(-8) mm, caducous. Leaves 10-15(-20) cm, 7-15-foliolate; petiole and rachis adaxially grooved, glabrous; petiole 1.5-4(-5) cm; stipels subulate, ca. 1 mm; petiolules ca. 1 mm, glabrous; leaflet blades opposite or rarely alternate, ovate, broadly ovate, ovate-elliptic, or ovate-lanceolate, 1.5-4(-5.5) × 0.8-2.8 cm, abaxially with sparse appressed medifixed tri­chomes on midvein and at margin when young but glabrescent, adaxially glabrous, midvein abaxially prominent and adaxially impressed, secondary veins obvious, base rounded to broadly cuneate, apex obtuse to acute and emarginate with a ca. 2 mm mucro. Racemes 8-18 cm; peduncle ca. 3 cm, glabrous; bracts ovate, ca. 1 mm, caducous. Pedicel ca. 3 mm, glabrous. Calyx 2.5-3.5 mm, with appressed medifixed trichomes; teeth triangu­lar, ca. 0.5 mm, shorter than tube. Corolla purple to pink; standard obovate, 8-10 × 6-8.5 mm, outside with dense ap­pressed trichomes, apex emarginate; wings 8-10 × ca. 2.5 mm, margin ciliate, claws ca. 1 mm; keel 9-10 × 4-4.5 mm, outside apically hairy, margin ciliate, spur very short. Stamens 7-9 mm; anthers ovoid, both ends hairy. Ovary glabrous, with more than 10 ovules. Legume brown, cylindric, 3-4(-5) cm, glabrous; endocarp blotched. Fl. Apr-May, fr. May-Sep.
