Plants 30-60 cm tall, with a long rhizome. Stem erect, robust, simple. Leaves alternate, crowded at upper part of stem; leaf blade oblong-ovate or oblong-oblanceolate, 10-22 × 4-8 cm, setose between teeth, lateral veins 9 or 10 pairs, base cuneate, margin repand-crenate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences axillary, racemose, 4-10-flowered; peduncles 7-15 cm. Pedicels ca. 2 cm. Flowers yellow, large, to 5 cm. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: obliquely ovate; inner 2: linear-lanceolate. Lower sepal saccate, abruptly elongated into a slightly curved or involute spur; spur long, 2-3 cm. Upper petal elliptic, apex rounded, mucronulate, abaxial midvein fine; lateral united petals not clawed, 2-lobed; basal lobes oblong, apex acuminate; distal lobes narrowly oblong, apex rounded-obtuse; abaxial auricle broad. Anthers obtuse. Ovary unknown. Capsule clavate. Fl. and fr. Jun-Nov.

The whole plant is used medicinally for treating irregular menstruation, injuries, and trauma.

● Forest understories, grasslands on slopes, shaded moist places; 900-1500 m. Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, S Yunnan.
