Leaf blade elliptic or oblong, rarely ovate-elliptic, 6-12 × 2.5-4.5 cm, abaxially gray-white tomentose, lateral veins 8-12 pairs, margin crenate or obscurely serrate, apex acuminate or long acuminate.
The new combination Frangula crenata var. discolor (Rehder) H. Yu, H. G. Ye & N. H. Xia (J. Trop. Subtrop. Bot. 16: 368. 2008) appeared after publication of the family treatment for the Flora of China.
● Mountain forests; 900-1200 m. SW Zhejiang (Longquan, Qingyuan).
