Primula advena var. euprepes (W. W. Smith) Chen et C. M. Hu

紫折瓣报春

Description from Flora of China

Primula maximowiczii Regel var. euprepes W. W. Smith, Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh 15: 79. 1926.

Corolla uniformly dark purple.

After publication of FOC volume 15, it came to our attention that the complete basionym reference was missing in an earlier publication (Chen & C. M. Hu, Fl. Xizang. 3: 799. 1986), so the FOC publication is a comb. nov.

Also after publication of the Flora of China treatment, the following combination was made - Primula euprepes (W. W. Smith) A. J. Richards, Plantsman, n.s. 7(2): 125. 2008.

Hu (J. Trop. Subtrop. Bot. 19: 222-224. 2011) noted that the correct name for the black-flowered Primula from Zhedou Shan is Primula melanantha (Franchet) C. M. Hu.

* Damp meadows; 4000--4300 m. E Xizang.
