Primula pirolifolia H. Léveillé.

Herbs perennial, efarinose. Leaves forming a rosette; petiole 2--4 X as long as leaf blade, copiously minutely glandular when young; leaf blade suborbicular to depressed orbicular, rarely broadly elliptic, 1.5--3(--5) cm wide, subleathery when dry, abaxially grayish green, glabrous, adaxially dark green, base rounded to shallowly cordate, margin remotely dentate to crenate. Scapes 6--15 cm, elongating to 20 cm in fruit, sparsely glandular; umbel solitary, 2--6-flowered; bracts lanceolate, 3--7 mm. Pedicel 1--2.5 cm, short-stalked glandular. Flowers heterostylous. Calyx campanulate to tubular campanulate, 4--6 mm, sparsely short-stalked glandular, parted to middle; lobes ovate to ovate-oblong, glandular ciliate, apex obtuse to rounded. Corolla rose-purple; tube 7--10(--12) mm, sparsely puberulous inside; limb 1.5--2.5 cm wide; lobes obovate, 2-lobulate, margin denticulate to lacerate. Pin flowers: stamens at middle of corolla tube; style ca. as long as tube. Thrum flowers: stamens toward apex of corolla tube; style ca. 1/2 as long as tube. Capsule included in calyx, disintegrating at maturity. Fl. Apr.
