Description from Flora of China
Annuals. Flowers terminal, solitary, small. Plicae symmetrical. Capsules cylindric to narrowly oblong, apex obtuse, wing-less. Seeds wingless at maturity, rarely winged when young; seed coat minutely reticulate.
Fourteen species: America, Asia, Europe; 12 species in China.
Some authors question the separation of this section from sect. Chondrophyllae.
