Plants very small, ca. 6–8 mm high, yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems erect, simple; central strand absent. Leaves appressed, often smaller below, larger above, 0.7–1.8 mm long, abruptly narrowed from an oblong-ovate, somewhat sheathing base to a short, narrowly obtuse or bluntly acute acumen; margins plane, sometimes incurved on one side at the base, entire throughout; costa strong, shortly excurrent; upper cells hexagonal or rhombic to rhomboidal, 12–18 µm × 5–7 µm, firm-walled, smooth; basal cells rectangular, 26–50 µm × 8–10 µm, thin-walled, pellucid. Autoicous. Perichaetial leaves highly sheathing at base, ca. 2.0 mm long. Setae short, straight, ca. 0.7 mm long; capsules slightly exserted, globose, ca. 1.1 mm wide, yellowish brown; opercula very short conic-rostrate; annuli none; peristome teeth absent. Spores 13–15 µm in diameter, yellow, smooth.

Type. China: Yunnan, Chungtien (Zhongdian), alt. 4450–4650 m, Handel-Mazzetti 4718 (holotype H).

Specimens examined: SICHUAN: Bai-xi (Jiang-bei), P.-C. Chen s.n., July 1944 (IFSBH, PE); Mu-li Co., C. Gao et al. 20189 (IFSBH). YUNNAN: see the type information cited above.

Habitat: on soil over rocks or on soil; Distribution: endemic to China.
