5. Dicranodontium filifolium Broth., Symb. Sin. 4: 20. 1929.

毛叶青毛藓

Plants rather small, slender, only up to 1 cm high, yellowish green, not shiny, in dense tufts. Stems erect or ascending, often simple, rarely branched, radiculose at base; central strand present. Leaves erect or slightly crispate when dry, falcate-secund, somewhat homomallous, linear-lanceolate, up to 6 mm long, rather abruptly narrowed from an oblong-ovate base to a very long, setaceous or subtubulose subula; margins plane, entire below, only serrulate near the apex; costa occupying ca. ¼ the leaf base width, excurrent in a long awn; upper cells rectangular, thick-walled; lower cells quadrate to short-rectangular, broader close to the costa, narrower at the margins; alar cells few, subquadrate, forming indistinct auricles, hyaline or brownish. Sporophytes not seen.

Type. China: Hunan, Yuen-schan, alt. 1250 m, Handel-Mazzetti 12114 (holotype H).

Habitat: on bases of trees; Distribution: endemic to China.
