4. Rhabdoweisia sinensis Chen, Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 58: 23. 1955.

Plants rather small, 6–10 mm high, yellowish green to brownish green, in dense tufts. Stems erect, usually branched, radiculose at the base; central strand absent. Leaves 1.5–2.5(–3.5) mm long, crispate when dry, erect-spreading when moist, narrowly lanceolate, leaf base clearly narrower, the upper part rather abruptly narrower from the middle, narrowly acute at the apex; margins plane, serrulate near the apex; costa strong, subpercurrent; upper cells rounded quadrate to irregular hexagonal, 9–10 µm wide, smooth; basal cells rectangular, 39–65 µm × 13–18 µm, lax and hyaline. Perichaetial leaves similar to the upper stem leaves. Setae slender, straight, 2.5–3.0(–3.5) mm long, yellowish; capsules ovoid, 0.3–0.5 mm long, 8-ribbed when dry; annuli somewhat developed; peristome teeth linear, yellowish brown, distinctly striolate nearly throughout. Spores 16–20 µm in diameter, warty.

Type. China: Sichuan, Omei Shan (Mt.), alt. 3000 m, P.-C. Chen 5616 (holotype PE).

Specimens examined: SICHUAN: Omei Shan (Mt.), C.-H. Gao 015856 (SHM), L.-Y. Tai 197 (PE). XIZANG: Ya-dong Co., M. Zang 403 (KUN).

Habitat: on soil or rocks; Distribution: endemic to China.
