Plants small, yellowish green, growing in dense patches. Leafy stems simple, 1.6–2.7 mm long, 0.8–1.0 mm wide; axillary hyaline nodules indistinct; central strand lacking. Leaves in 4–14 pairs, densely arranged, smaller toward the base; upper leaves ovate-lanceolate to ovate, 0.6–0.8 mm × 0.2–0.3 mm, acute to obtuse at apex; margins serrulate; base of dorsal laminae wedge-shaped or disappearing a little above the base; vaginant laminae 2/3 the leaf length, almost equal; limbidia found on vaginant laminae of most leaves, 1–2 cells wide on upper one-half, 2–4 cells wide on lower one-half of vaginant laminae; costa stout, light yellowish brown, percurrent or ending a few cells below the leaf apex; cells of apical and dorsal laminae quadrate to irregularly hexagonal, 3.5–7.0 µm long, with a high centrally located papilla, obscure, thin-walled; cells of upper one-half of vaginant laminae similar to those of apical and dorsal laminae, but larger and clearer, cells of extreme base of vaginant laminae largest, rectangular, up to 21 µm long, smooth. Autoicous. Male inflorescences small, in axils of lower stem leaves. Female inflorescences terminal or lateral. Perichaetial leaves not distinctly differentiated. Archegonia 140–175 µm long. Setae erect or slightly geniculate at base, ca. 1.8 mm long, smooth; capsules erect, symmetrical, subglobose to cylindrical, urns about 0.30–0.35 mm long; exothecial cells projecting; opercula long rostrate, ca. 2.8 mm long. Calyptrae cucullate, 0.3 mm long. Spores 20–30 µm in diameter.

Type. China: Taiwan, Chia-yi Co., Noguchi 6795 (holotype NICH).

Specimens examined: TAIWAN: Tai-chung City, campus of Tunghai Univ., S.-H. Lin 3158, 3159 (NICH, TUNG).
