Perennials. Leaves pinnately divided. Flowers arranged in short racemes. Perigonium Formed by 3-5 small petaloid sepals. Nectaries (petals) 4, rarely more or up to 10. Stamens numerous. Fruit a berry formed by a single carpel. Seed single.
A small genus of 4-5 species widely distributed throughout Europe, extra-tropical Asia and N. America. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
