Perennial rhizomatous herbs. Leaves long petioled. Cauline leaves 1 or 2. Flowers bisexua1, small and greenish. Stamens alternating with the corolla lobes; Filaments deeply split, anthers monothecous. Carpels syncarpous. Ovary semi-inferior. Drupe sub-globose, partially enclosed in the persistent calyx.
