Scapes 1 (-few)-flowered. Flowers large, bracteate, ebracteolate. Calyx spathaceous, apparently tubular below but split to the base anteriorly. Corolla-tube broad, outcurved, obscurely 2-lipped, subequally 5-lobed. Stamens included, filaments longer than the anthers; anther cells unequal, one fertile and the other sterile with basal spur (or absent in the upper stamens). Capsule many seeded; seeds pitted.
About 10 species, chiefly Indo-Malayan or tropical Asian; represented here by 1 species.
