Perennial herbs, leaves imparipinnate with 2-3-pinnatifid leaflets. Sepals distinctly shorter than petals. Petals (nectar-leaves) 5-20, with nectaries at base, pink to white. Stamens numerous. Carpels numerous, very shortly stipitate. Fruit a 1-seeded follicle. Ovule pendulous.
A small genus of about 10 species inhabiting the mountains of Europe and C. Asia. None of the species is of any economic or pharmaceutical value.
Represented in Pakistan by 2 species.
