Glabrous shrubby climber, lenticels conspicuous on the stem, sap milky. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, coriaceous. Flowers in several-flowered terminal cymes. Calyx split nearly to the base, lobes 5, ovate to lanceolate, acute. Corolla whitish pink or lavender, funnel shaped, lobes longer than the tube. True corona absent, 5 corolline appendages present on the tube. Stamens short, present in the base of the corolla, filaments distinct, anthers adnate to the stigma. Pollen in tetrads. Stigma large, globular. Follicle woody with ribs or wings. Seeds numerous, small, comose.
A genus of 2 species, native to Madagascar. One is cultivated as an ornamen¬tal in Pakistan.
