Tomentose annual with alternate linear leaves. Capitula disciform, small, in dense terminal or axillary glomerules. Receptacle elongated. Involucre with few minute outer sterile phyllaries, median phyllaries saccate, but not indurate, including a female filiform floret, inner phyllaries slightly plicate. In the centre usually 4 bisexual (functionally male) florets with 4-dentate tubular corolla and with few caducous pappus-bristles. Anthers tailed, appendices acute, endothecial tissue radial. Cypselas glabrous, epappose.
A monotypic genus, distributed in SW and C Asia.
