Shrubs or climbers, climbing by aerial roots, or creepers. Leaves alternate, simple, petiolate, exstipulate. Inflorescence a panicle of umbels. Pedicels sometimes obscurely jointed. Sepals 5, entire or toothed. Petals 5, valvate. Stamens 5. Carpels 5, syncarpous; ovary 5-Jocular; styles united. Fruit a globose berry.
