Prostrate annual herbs. Leaves sessile or shortly petiolate, ± spathulate, tomentose. Capitula disciform, densely congested, in terminal clusters, surounded by rosette of leaves; phyllaries 2-3-seriate, hyaline, with divided stereome. Outer florets female, outnumbering the central bisexual florets, all florets yellow. Cypselas with short clavate myxogenic hairs; pappus setae, slender, barbellate, not united in a ring, apical cell subclavate.
A genus with 1 or 2 species (sometimes Gnaphalium cispatulum (Delile) Kirp. is also treated under Homognaphalium), distributed from N Africa, Sudan, Southwest Asia to India through Pakistan.
