Evergreen lianas with entire or pinnatifid leaves, perforated or not. Spadix cylindrical, included in the boat shaped bract. Flowers bisexual, fertile above, sterile below. Tepals O. Stamens 4. Ovary bilocular, with 2 ovules in each locule.
A genus of 50 species, tropical America and W. Indies. Represented in Pakistan by 1 cultivated species.
