Annuals or perennials with simple leaves. Flowering heads subglobose, radiant. Involucral bracts herbaceous, receptacular ones hairy, sometimes lacking. Calyx setae 10-24, plumose. Corolla 5-fid. Stamens 5. Involucel with no pits at the top.
A genus of c. 25 species, distributed from C. Asia to the Himalayas, W. China, Mediterranean and tropical Africa. Represented here by 1 or 2 species.
