Small perennial herbs, often laxly caespitose, somewhat woody below, hoary tomentose with stellate or branched hairs. Leaves usually small, linear or narrowly oblanceolate, entire. Racemes and flowers very similar to Alyssum, but lateral nectar glands somewhat projected outwards; filaments of stamens never dentate or appendaged; pedicel flexuose, filiform, subspreading in fruit. Siliculae very much like Alyssum but ovoid to subglobose with valves uniformly turgid or inflated without any sign of a flattened margin; apex entire, acute or obtuse; style distinct; seeds 1-2 in each locule.
About 12 species mostly in C. Asia; only 1 recorded from our area.
