Large deciduous shrubs or small trees. Leaves trifoliolate, stipules deciduous; leaflets serrate. Flowers in terminal panicles, 5-merous; pedicel jointed. Stamens 5, filaments pubescent at the base; anthers bilocular, dehis¬cing longitudinally, versatile. Ovary 3-2-lobed, 3-2-locular; styles 3-2; stigmas more or less capitate. Fruit an inflated capsule. Seeds exarillate.
