Plants small with decumbent rhizome. Stem leafy. Inflorescence ± dense, few to many flowered. Flowers small, resupinate. Perianth segments subequal. Petals adherent to dorsal sepal, forming a hood; lateral sepals spreading. Labellum fleshy, somewhat saccate and with 2 lamellae or callosities at base, above the middle ± contracted, often produced into broadened, sometimes bibbed apex. Column short; anther dorsal; rostellum bifid; pollinia granulose, attached to a viscid gland, which is inserted between the rostellum arms; stigmas 2, separate.
About 70 species mainly in tropical Asia and also in tropical Africa. 1 species in Pakistan.
