Shrubs. Stem glabrous, shoot tips pubescent. Leaves 3-5 cm long, oblong lanceolate, retuse, coriaceous, subsessile. Flowers c. 2 cm long, in terminal heads, white, rosy red outside; tube c. 1.2 cm long; lobes slightly smaller, obtuse. Ovary glabrous. Fruit 8 mm long, ovoid, red.

Type: Western China, Pratt 737 (K).
Studied from material from Kashmir, Tulion, Pahlgam, R.R. Stewart 8146 (RAW). A rare plant. Reported by Parker from Musa, Muzaffarabad. Grows at altitudes from 3-4000 m.
