A caespitose mat forming stoloniferous plant. Leaves 6–9(–11) x 1.5–2.5 mm, lanceolate, serrate, under surface farinose, glabrate at length, the farina of a yellow colour. Scape absent or from 0.5–4 cm long, up to 6 cm in fruit, (1-) 2–5-flowered. Bracts 2, lanceolate, dilated at the base, 2-2.5 mm long, exceeding the pedicel. Flowers heteromorphic, pink to pink-purple. Calyx 2-2.5 mm long, campanulate, up to 3 mm in fruit, glabrous, lobe margin glandulose. Corolla tube 6–9 mm long, exceeding the calyx; limb up to 12 mm broad, lobes 3.5–4 x 3.5 mm, obcordate, throat exannulate, yellow. Ovary subglobose. Style 1.5 mm long (in thrum-eyed flowers). Capsule ovoid, included in calyx. Seeds less than 1 mm long, ovoid-angular, brown, vesiculose.
