Pleurogyne thomsonii Clarke
Annual, small, 2-5 (-7) cm high, delicate, glabrous, fasciculately branched herb. Basal leaves rosulate, 0.2-0.6 x 0.15-0.4 cm, spathulate-obovate, elliptic, acute, entire. Cauline leaves very few or absent, 0.1-0.3 x 0.05-0.15 cm, elliptic, acute, entire. Inflorescence solitary, terminal on 1-2 cm long pedicel. Flowers tetra-pentamerous, 0.4-0.8 cm. Calyx 4-5 lobed, lobes divided to base, 0.2-0.4 x 0.1-0.2 mm, subequal, elliptic-oblong, acute, entire. Corolla deep blue to purple, 4-5 lobed, lobes divided to the base, 0.3-0.75 x 0.1-0.3 cm, oblong-obovate, acute-acuminate, entire, fimbriate or scales absent at the base. Stamens 4-5, filaments dilated at the base, anthers basifixed. Ovary sessile 0.2-0.4 x 0.1-0.15 cm, elliptic, stigmas 2, sessile. Capsule sessile, 0.3-0.5 x 0.1-0.2 cm, elliptic, many seeded. Seeds small, brownish, smooth.
