    Annual, simple-fasciculately branched, 4-30 cm high herb. Stem branched from base and above, canaliculate. Leaves few, usually cauline, basal leaves very few, rosulate 02-1.0 x 0.1-0.3 cm, ovate, acute-mucronate, entire, cauline leaves 0.4-2.0 x 0.2-1.5 cm, ovate-broadly ovate, mucronate, entire, sessile, such amplexicaule. Inflorescence axillary-terminal, 0.4-12.0 cm long pedicel. Flowers 1-3.0 cm long, pentamerous, or rarely tetramerous. Calyx 4-5, divided to the base, lobes unequal, 0.4-1.5 x 0.15-0.5 cm, lanceolate-elliptic, entire, acute-acuminate. Corolla 4-5, divided to the base, blue, lobes 15-3.0 x 0.5-1.0 cm, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, entire, fimbriae at base of each lobe. Stamens 4-5, fimbriae surrounding the filaments, anthers ovate-oblong. Ovary 05-15 x 0.2-0.75 cm, elliptic, lanceolate, sessile, stigmas sessile. Capsule 0.75-2.0 x 0.4-1.25 cm, elliptic-lanceolate, many seeded. Seeds oblong-circular, brown, reticulate-smooth.
