A glabrous twining shrub, juice milky, branches terete. Leaves elliptic to oblong-ovate, 7.5-15 cm long, tip retuse or sometimes acute, apiculate, glabrous, green above, whitish below; petiole 6-13 mm long. Flowers in short paniculate axillary cymes. Bracts ovate, lanceolate. Calyx segments c. 1 mm long, ovate, subacute. Corolla 10-14 mm long, pale greenish-yellow, tube c. 2 mm long, lobes 6-7 mm long, linear or linear-lanceolate, acute. Coronal scales 5, clavate, attached to the top of the corolla-tube closing its mouth. Stamens at the base of the corolla tube, filaments very short, free, anther bases adhering to the stigmas. Follicles 5-11 cm long. Seeds 6-7 mm long, ovate-oblong, compressed, black; 3.1-3.2 cm long.
