 Bryonia amplexicaulis  Lam.Melothria amplexicaulis  (Lam.) Cogn.Solena heterophylla  (Lour.) Cogn.Zehneria umbellata  Thw.
Leaves polymorphic, 0.5-1.5 cm long, slender, shortly villous, rarely scabrous, variously lobed, lobes acute, scabrid with minute glands and dots above. Flowers yellow or white, c. 6 x 4 mm, pedicel c. 8 mm. Fruit c. 2.5 x 1.5 cm, scabrous, rarely shortly villous, several seeded. Seeds grey, small, c. 8 x 6 mm. 
 
Fl. Per.: April-July. 
Holotype: India, Sonnerat (P).  
Distribution: Same as that of genus.  
The roots, leaves and fruits are eaten.
