Sorghum bicolor (Linn.) Moench., Meth. Bot. 207. 1794. (Holcus bicolor Linn., Mant. 2: 301. 1771; Holcus sacchuratus Linn., Sp. Pl. 2:1047. 1753, nom. confus.; Sorghum vulgare Pers., Syn. Pl. 1:101. 1805, nom. superfl.) is the cultivated Sorghum and is grown as a crop in Sind, Punjab, Lower Baluchistan and the Punjab foothills. It is characterised by its large grain commonly exposed by the gaping glumes and its persistent sessile spikelets.
