Aletris nepalensis Bureau & FranchetStachyopogon pauciflorus Kl.Tofieldia nepalensis Wall.
Plants up to 15 cm tall, grass-like. Leaves linear-lanceolate, prominently 5-7(-9)-nerved. Scape naked, wooly-pubescent above, longer than the leaves. Bracts 1-2, linear to narrowly lanceolate, lower longer than the flowers. Flowers glabrous, greenish or white, sessile or pedicellate, shortly campanulate. Perianth lobes short, recurved. Stamens 6, at the bases of the perianth lobes; filaments short, dehiscence of the anthers at the tips. Ovary half inferior, conic, 3-locular; locule many ovuled; style shorter than the stamens; stigma 3-fid. Fruit capsular, ovoid, many seeded.

Type: Described from Eastern Himalayas.
Distribution: Alpine Himalayas from Kaghan and Kashmir to Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and China.
An uncommon plant in Pakistan.
