Perennial rhizomatous herb. Leaves alternate. Ochreae large, thick, without cilia, persistant. Flowers bisexual. Tepals biseriate. Stamens 8, anthers broadly elliptic, filaments subulate. Pollen grains 6-colpate, reticulate. Styles 3, long, stigmas 3, short, capitate; ovary ellipsoid.
A monotypic genus, distributed in Afghanistan, Himalayas, India, Pakistan, Xizang, N. Myanmar and Western China.
